Introduction
This is similar to our 8 day trip but includes an extra acclimatisation day visiting the beautiful Adyl-Su Valley and Jankuat Glacier.
You will be met at Mineralnie Vody airport to transfer by minibus to your hotel the Baksan Valley. The next 4/5 days are designed to provide acclimatization for your forthcoming ascent to Elbrus summit. The program of preparation also includes an outing to the slopes of Cheget (3452m) from which in good weather there are fine views of Mt. Elbrus, Donguz-Orun, Nakra and many other Caucasian giants. After this the group transfers to the Garabashi Huts on the slopes of Elbrus for further acclimatisation days. The ascent day is chosen by the guide depending on weather forecasts and group readiness. The ascent involves is a long day, taking between 9-14 hours to complete and descend.

Programme

Day 1 Arrive in Mineralny Vody airport. Private bus transfer to our base hotel in Baksan Valley.
   An overnight flight from London connects with the Mineralny Vody flight, others may consider staying overnight in Moscow with an optional city tour.
Day 2 Acclimatisation walk from hotel to Cheget Karabashi summit, 3404m - a magnificent viewpoint over Elbrus. Night in hotel.
Day 3 Walk up the Adyl-su valley to the "Green Hotel", 2400m. Walk up the Jankuat Glacier to the Eastern Jankuat Pass, 3600m. Walk back via the Adyl-su valley. Return to the hotel. Night in the hotel.
Day 4 Ascend cable car system to Garabashi Huts. *Possible acclimatisation walk to Pastukhova Rocks.
Day 5 Attempt on Elbrus or acclimatisation walk to Pastukhova Rocks.†
Day 6 Attempt on Elbrus.†
Day 7 Attempt on Elbrus.
Day 8 Descend to our hotel in the Baksan Valley.
Day 9 Drive back to Mineralnye Vody airport.

* If Garabashi huts are full you may have to use the Diesel Hut or camp in its vicinity.
† If Elbrus is climbed on day 6 or 7 you will descend to the hotel and some valley walks will be organised.

Please note: only one summit attempt on Elbrus is included, if you descend to hotel valley early, the extra hotel night is not included
 
Terrorism and your Security
The Caucasus have recently been on some countries' Office of Foreign Affairs "not recommended to travel to lists" (eg UK).Many countries have no restrictions and the area remains a popular international tourist destination. The Elbrus area has so far been hardly affected by terrorist activities and at present we expect to continue running trips here as we have done for the last fifteen years. We do monitor the situation and do appreciate insurance complications may arise if you are travelling to the area details. After making your booking, should the situation in the area deteriorate to the extent that we have to cancel, alter or curtail the trip at short notice, we will refund all monies paid other than those associated with non-refundable expenses such as flight deposits or payments.

UK citizens, and others, may wish to discuss insurance implications and solutions with us.

Flights
If you wish to obtain your flights just into Moscow we will need to know which airport you fly into before we can obtain your flight from Moscow to Mineralny Vody. This is to ensure the flights connect.
