Tailor Made Programmes Those who would like to travel alone may design for themselves a programme and travel whenever they wish. Some may even venture into the deserts in the summer and experience the Sahara at its most ferocious. Because of the altitude the Hoggar Mountains, Tamanrasset and Djanet never get extremely hot and a visit to the Hoggar could be combined with a trip to Tazrouk village to take part in the Tuareg festival held on the first Thursday of August. To help you design your trip we suggest you use our scheduled trip descriptions. If you have a group size of 2 or more then the prices quoted for scheduled trips will give you a guideline cost. All programmes will be discussed in full before a final price quote will be made. In some wilder desert areas it is essential to have two vehicles in the event of an emergency or breakdown. Vehicle hire with driver only We offer the option of hiring just a desert ready 4WD Toyota Landcruiser with a driver, basic cooking equipment (Stove, gas, pots, cutlery, plates, bowls, cups, kettle), mattresses, water and fuel containers. You would have to provide all food (much of which is available readily in Tamanrasset or Djanet), fuel, an outline itinerary, maps, gps, sat phone. Our rates for this are euro 100 per day basic cost for the hire plus euro 6 per person per day extra. In a Toyota Land Cruiser you can fit comfortably 1 driver plus 5 people with luggage, fuel and water sufficient for about 6 days travelling. The hire is subject to you submitting a copy of your proposed route - without this we cannot commit ourselves to the hire. This should be done as an email with image attachment.
