Climate
In the high Caucasus such as in Svanetia or Tusheti winters are long with snow lying from October to April in the villages and longer on the mountain passes. In summer mountain villages average about 15°C. The eastern Caucasus are generally drier but overall the weather is slightly more stable than in the Alps.

The climate in the plains around Tbilisi, Telavi and Kutaisi is cool in winter with only occasional snow but often very hot in the summer. Cultural, low-level tours are best planned for March through to June and then again from September to early November. If your tours include higher areas (such as Borjomi, Tushetia or Svanetia then July and August would also be suitable - but beware of access problems to Tusheti and Svanetia.
