| Morocco is a very worthwhile destination for Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and for other adventurous projects. It is easy to reach from Europe, has an exotic atmosphere, good level of infrastructure, excellent opportunitites for community-based project work and residential periods and offers good trekking with mule support available. Our recommended programme is suitable for the summer holidays, includes a residential period suitable for working in local Berber communities, takes in the ascent of Mt Mgoun (2nd highest mountain in North Africa) and a descent of the Mgoun gorge. Other highlights include a visit to the Rose Valley, Ouarzazate and to Marrakech. We particularly recommend the Mt Mgoun area as it is a much less popular and less touristic than Toubkal. The ascent of Mgoun includes a section of very high quality ridge walking. Typical Programme
