Tadjikistan is home to many different ethnic groups. The Pamirians live in the high mountains throughout the winter. Their felt tent is only their summer shelter. Their language is related to Tadjik. They graze sheep, goats and cattle, in winter moving down to the lower valleys - still often at abour 3700m (12,300ft). Note the churn just in front of their tent/yurt, also the bear skin one of them has put on - it had been killed just two weeks previously by them as it had been roaming too close to their yurts. |
