magnificent scenery. The great expanses of the Sahara desert contain a surprising range of landscapes: great seas of sand dunes, mazes of rocky
pinnacles, ancient cave art, colourful Tuareg nomads, oasis, flowers and the occasionally snow-capped Hoggar mountains. In the north green hills and
Mediterranean coastline also contain some magnificent Roman / Berber ruins. After a years of turmoil fighting French then pro-Islamic factions the country
has enjoyed peace in the 21st Century and is rapidly catching up on the lost years. With its plentiful oil and mineral wealth and stable political
