This is a trekking trip through the Tassili n'Ajjer UNESCO World Heritage Park. Magnificent landscapes and unusual rock-formations, rare species of flora and fauna and cave art make the Tassili n'Ajjer a unique destination in the heart of the Sahara Desert. Background Info

Apart from the first night all meals will be in the open desert and nights spent under the stars.

Main highlights
Engravings, paintings, flora and fauna, dunes, gheltas (natural waterholes), rock formations, nomads and their encampments, opportunities to ride on a camel.

Daily Programme
Breakfast is generally served just after sunrise, then while the camels are being packed you will set off walking. The morning's walk is about 4 hours which includes short stops at sights of interest. Then there is an extended lunch break, prepared by our crew in advance. In the afternoon you will trek for another 2 to 3 hours to the next campsite.

Outline Itinerary
1. Arrive late in Djanet. Drive into the desert for the first night under the stars.
2 - 7. Trekking with camel support from Djanet to Essendilene.
8. Return to Djanet to rooms in a hotel for a clean up and sort out. Visit the town, meal in the desert (option to eat in town) before the night flight home.
