Extreme Dreams Libya - The Original Route EWP suggested Libya as a venue for the 2007 Extreme Dreams trip escorted by Ben Fogle and filmed for the BBC by Ricochet. Shown on BBC2 between 4 and 8 February. For a bit of insight into how the series was made see filming 07. Although the programme is referred to as an Extreme Dream in reality this trip is a fairly standard but adventurous trek suitable for those used to trekking holidays. Our original plan was to combine some adventurous walking with the ascent of the highest point in the Acacus Mountains - a point that may well have never been reached by anybody as the final short section of the ascent requires ropes in order to be able to descend back down the step. Filming constraints prevented us carrying out this unique plan.
We have now put together a trip for those who would like to see some of the best areas we visited whilst making this film and would like to complete the original project to reach the highest point of the Acacus and take in the highlights of the Extreme Dreams walk. The trip is scheduled for 10 to 21 October 2008 to make use of the full moon - the mountain ascent will be a long day and starting in the cool of night by moonlight will give us a good start. If you are interested in this programme please contact us as soon as possible. This is a one off trip - first ascents are first once only.
